The Fundamentals of Insurance is recognized in most Canadian provinces as the premier pre-licensing study course for beginning general insurance brokers.  This entry level course was designed by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) for individuals with little or no experience in the insurance industry. Students obtain a clear understanding of how the industry works and a good working knowledge of various types of policies.  Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Insurance exam and the GICS Bylaws exam meets the requirement for a Level 1 Licence.  The passing mark for each exam is 75%.

 

Self-Study

The Fundamentals of Insurance Course can be taken by Self-Study.  You can purchase the textbook and prepare for the final examination on your own.

EXAMS

Written exams are available monthly at various locations.  Online exams can be written n weekdays during business hours in an acceptable facility in your community under the supervision of an approved exam proctor.  The exam fee is included in the course registration fee.
